OMG! Week two of packing my daughter lunch every weekday for the first time in my life. She is six and just changed daycare locations. The luxury of catered lunches are now days gone by. I am totally happy about this since I thought was in total control of what she eats but I was so wrong...lol!
My plan was foiled by her eating the things she liked most first and not eating others. Other days she would barely eat at all since she was just having to much fun playing.
Super mom had to be quick on her feet to think. We now have a numbers on her containers. She has to eat them in order to get to her desert.
Some of my fav things to pack and I now pack for myself are:
- Snap peas- so fun to eat
- Rasins - taste like desert but high in iron
- Spelt pasta salad with grilled asparagus - spelt is guten free and low in sugars
- Fresh blueberries, strawberries and grapes
- Sliced cucumbers, multi grain crackers and cheese
Now if I could just get her to eat a raw kale salad.
Come on I can dream right! Oh an desert in our house is a small bag of vegi chips from the health food store.
Now you understand why she tells her grandfather I am a health freak and begs for cookies soon as she gets in the door.
